30 day movie challenge

A movie you can never unsee
“Pink Flamingos”
(1972 / 1997)

Pink Flamingos

When a movie is described as ‘one of the most vile, stupid and repulsive films ever made’ you know you’re in for a good time!!!

Written, produced and directed in its entirety by the Master of Trash and one of my lifelong creative heroes, John Waters…

Pink Flamingos is one of the most notorious and controversial cult movies ever made and is described by Waters himself as ‘an exercise in poor taste’!

Sleaze queen Divine lives in a caravan with her mad hippie son Crackers and her 250-pound mother Mama Edie, trying to rest quietly on their laurels as ‘the filthiest people alive’. But competition is brewing in the form of Connie and Raymond Marble, who sell heroin to schoolchildren and kidnap and impregnate female hitchhikers, selling the babies to lesbian couples. Finally, they challenge Divine directly, and battle commences…

A quick search on IMDb will tell you all you need to know about Pink Flamingos including some information on the famous scene below which really needs no further explanation…

Divine Dog Poop jpg

Starring the late, great, infamous and fabulous drag queen, Divine, Pink Flamingos is outrageously sick, twisted, disgusting, grotesque and is absolutely one of the most amazing and hilariously subversive things ever made!

As Roger Ebert stated on his review of Pink Flamingos…

I am not giving a star rating to “Pink Flamingos, because stars simply seem not to apply. It should be considered not as a film but as a fact, or perhaps as an object.

And what a fantastically filthy object it is!!!
