Song 27:
Two Versions – One Song

Song 27 is dedicated to a song called I Put A Spell On You!

Screamin Jay

Screamin Jay Hawkins was a blues singer and pianist who embodied the theatrical and macabre side of showmanship. He would often use coffins and skulls and smoke and snakes as stage props and would always have his skull staff called Henry on stage.

I absolutely love his over the top Voodoo and Hoodoo performances and think he is one of my favourite artists and performers of all time.

His most famous and successful song, I Put a Spell on You, from 1956, was selected as one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll – and quite rightly so!

Hocus Pocus

For my generation… this song will forever be synonymous with the tale of three evil witches brought back to life by a virgin who lit the black flame candle!!!

I mean… who doesn’t love the Sanderson Sisters!!!

So, after that MAAAAARVELLOUS introduction…
Here is Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker doing their amazing version of I Put A Spell On You!!!
